I heart Rachel

This is why I love Rachel. She's rational, personable, and she lays it all out clearly. 



I would add that possibly the reasoning as to why they want to do nothing is because they hate the New Deal and by that regard any government program. They hate government in almost any form. Except when it comes time for the government to get into your bedroom or your body. They want to do nothing so that the economy goes totally in the shitter and all the sudden it becomes too expensive or unfeasible for the government to pay for Social Security. Can't afford Medicare or Medicaid either. They want the whole New Deal gone. And with those programs gone, well then I guess we can just lower our taxes that much more, can't we? Which then boils down to plain and simple greed. That's it. Or at least my take on it. They can't effectively shrink government by actual governing as demonstrated so they'd rather 'blow up' the government and the economy to do it and all else be damned.
