Robert Shaw he ain't

I know it was probably foolish, but I was holding out some iota of hope that the trailer for this would be really good. Something that would lead me to believe that they'd found a way to do the original justice. Or that they had found a new take on the premise. Or would be going in an unexpected way. But my faith is lost after watching this trailer. Part of the charm of the original was its total lack of political correctness. Something today that they can't get away with or are at least to afraid to even try to get away with it. It is rated R which is good and maybe that means there is some edginess to it, but I doubt it. Time will tell. In the meantime, we'll always have the original.

And the fantastic original, which for my money is one of the best New York movies ever.
