I forgot. There was another big trailer premiering this week. The full trailer for Angels & Demons. What's that you say? No, it's not a movie starring Amy Grant and Teri Hatcher. It's the sequel to The DaVinci Code. Now the first one made a ton of bank so of course they had to make a sequel. It was money. It wasn't tons of fans clamoring for another go around. Now the first movie was sold on controversy. Which is also what set to book off to best selling status. Nothing more than controversy. Seriously, there was nothing more than a morbid what-the-fuck-is-everybody-up in-arms-about curiosity that got me into that theater. And guess what. I still don't know what everybody was up in arms about. Something about Jesus having a libido or whatever. For me it was mostly a huge snooze fest with obvious villains. And looking at the trailer it seems to me that it's going to be a somewhat more action packed snooze fest with obvious villains. I mean I can tell just by the trailer that Roger Ebert's Law of Economy of Characters is in full effect.
I think this film won't do anywhere near the level of business the first one did. I don't know anybody who enjoyed the first one that much and there's no controversy this time. Oh they'll try to manufacture it for sure, but it won't be there. He's working to help the church this time and it'll be hard to see how they spin that. Rather than post the trailer I was going to post the Prince video Controversy and let you find the trailer yourself if you care (which you don't), but get this, there aren't any Prince videos on YouTube with any sound on them! Now that's controversial! Give us our Prince!
